Details of Kidney Beans
Kidney Beans (Rajma) are sown in March/April and
harvested in August. On an average, the Rajma crop is grown in heights
between 1600 – 2600 meter. Rajma is an inter-determinant crop
with an average crop period of 150 days. The seed is local and a
part of the crop is retained as seed for the subsequent season.
Locally the Rajma is sorted by colour i.e. red,
white and spotted.
SGS has registered Organic cultivation in the districts
of Rudraprayag and Chamoli with land holdings totaling to 650 acres.
The average land holding is a little less than half an acre per
producer.
The total production capacity of the above
mentioned area is 64 MT per annum.
